As most of our readers know, President Obama nominated David Michaels for the position of Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health back in July. (And, of course, we who work with him at GW were thrilled, because he’s an excellent choice.) The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions now has to vote on his nomination, and they’ve had a lot to deal with lately.
In the meantime, several organizations have written to the HELP Committee about the vote. The American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the American Public Health Association, and the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association have all written letters to the HELP Committee giving their full support to David Michaels’ nomination.
